Pulled Pork (Southern BBQ Classic)
A Southern barbecue staple made with pork shoulder slow-cooked or smoked until tender, then shredded and mixed with tangy barbecue sauce. Pulled pork is often served on its own, with sides like coleslaw and cornbread, or made into the famous pulled pork sandwich.

02 Ingredients
1.5–2 kg Pork Shoulder (Boston Butt)
2 tbsp Olive Oil
2 tbsp Brown Sugar
2 tbsp Paprika
1 tsp Garlic Powder
1 tsp Onion Powder
1 tsp Cayenne Pepper (optional)
2 tsp Salt
1 tsp Black Pepper
1 cup Barbecue Sauce (plus more for serving)

Coleslaw
Cornbread
Pickles
03 Method
Step 1
Mix Brown Sugar, Paprika, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Cayenne, Salt, and Black Pepper to make a dry rub.
Step 2
Rub the Pork Shoulder with Olive Oil, then coat with the spice rub.
Step 3
For Slow Cooker: place Pork in the cooker, cover, and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 6 hours until tender.
For Oven: roast covered at 150°C (300°F) for 6–7 hours.
For Smoker: cook low and slow at 110–120°C (225–250°F) for 8–10 hours.
Step 4
Remove Pork and shred with two forks.
Step 5
Mix shredded Pork with Barbecue Sauce until evenly coated.
Step 6
Serve with Coleslaw, Cornbread, or make into Pulled Pork Sandwiches.
